into the border
I am back to the quilt today as the rain came down this morning and I am feeling very single minded towards it. I want to get it finished , because I am enjoying making it and because I want it to be ready for Laura’s birthday.
I finished the virtual stitch in the ditch quilting of the main part of the top and then started to plan what to do with the borders. I have a useful website bookmarked with free quilting designs and found a motif that I thought was just right for the corners. It’s called Sassafras and seems to be a great complement the chrysanthemums on the border fabric.
I downloaded the design and used it to make a template from plastic. The design was marked on the quilt with a water soluble marker and so far I have stitched one motif . The thread I am using is quite a subtle contrast to the border fabric -but it shows up clearly on the back.
And now back to work.

Well, the rain is good for something!
I am so glad this process is going smoothly for you….Laura will be thrilled.
I love your fabric arts and your crafty words. You always bring a smile to my face!
I think thatched roofs are so pretty! But I didn’t know the negative sides of them…
Your Discentra spectabile is gorgeous!

that fabric is gorgeous. I can imagine the final result will be amazing.
Very pretty choice to go along with the other fabrics. Sounds like your enjoying the process. Rainy days are great for quilting, they tend to keep you from “garden wandering” and sticking with the tasks at hand LOL
