a break (with the blues)

I shall be heading south early this week to take a leisurely and for my DH, a very well earned break, hopefully with some sunshine, and definitely with some great scenery.

I am taking a little sewing with me, although I have no idea what will be done-the days will be spent walking in the mountains and the evenings dining out-at least that is the intention. I’m going to start a new quilt, for our bed, but this time it will be hand made and I’m not in a hurry.

I started collecting these fabrics for it-some Japanese indigo prints, some Kaffe Fassett (of course!), some sashiko threads. I have chosen a second pattern from this book-Laura’s quilt design came from it too. I think it is Australian and was one of those serendipitous finds in a cheap bookstore. A friend has made a stunning quilt from it too.

So with my blues packed, I will catch up with you all near the end of May. Until then..

Wishing you a fabulous time in Grazalema – I can just picture the wild peonies and orchids on the mountain sides. Have you ever been Griffon Vulture watching? If not, it’s recommended

how bizzare – comments from another of your posts are here! anyway – I like the way this quilt is coming along. I had a go at this quilt and I gave up at 12 squares. I had a dreadful time trying to get the curves right. ironing over the card was a nightmare for me. Yours is looking much better than mine did.
