golden glory

I couldn’t believe that the envelope waiting for me when I came home from work yesterday could be my silk organza order -less than 24 hours after I sent for it, but it was. And when I opened the pack I actually spoke to it-it’s all so lovely.

As I mentioned last time, buying off the Internet is risky from a colour rendition point of view, but I love all 3 pieces of silk/metal organza and one of the 2 threads is perfect. The other will be useful too, although much more yellow than I expected.

Today I have been working on the balance of “fenlands”, staring again at the opposite end, where the silk is an old gold. I’m using the bottom piece of organza-gold shot with black to make another window onto a fenland world. And much the same technique as before.

I have left a little space at the bottom of the window, because what if I put something on the backing fabric to be visible through the window-a glimpse onto another world?

the fabrics and threads look beautiful – that brand and type of thread is it? it looks gorgeous

what if you could glimpse the past – evolutionary layers….ancient creatures, fossils . I toyed with this idea back with my sumputous surfaces dragonfly, but havent developed it yet. im very curious about our past.

That organza is stunning – one of my favourite types of fabric – seriously inspiring. I don’t get out much to see real shops at the moment so it’s lovely to see such beautiful things.

I can well understand why you spoke to those gorgeous organzas! Adding to the beauty – their fast arrival that lets you stay in the groove of the thing rather than patiently waiting.
