a garden full of lines

I left you with this quote on the last post-

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” Marcel Proust.

My voyage today was through my garden, looking with new eyes. Not my usual gardener’s eyes-admiring a new flower here, spotting an unwanted pest there, but with my new designer’s eyes. Designer. Who would have thought it.

The day was kind and bright, the light clear and angled. I took 50 plus photos, on the theme of line, and by the magic of Picassa include 18 here in 2 pictures. Eventually I will be working up some of these images into various studies and maybe into stitchings.

Back inside I made some printing blocks by sticking hessian left over from making potato sacks onto card, and printing onto black paper with acrylic paint. Another block was made by sticking a piece of cloth with metallic embroidery on it and using that to print the little leaf motif.

great garden pics. I dont notice much in the garden design wise unless I have a camera – too busy looking at the weeds, bugs – but the camera seems to capture the design elements without me noticing

Yes, great garden pictures (as if right out of The Inward Garden…) – and what a source of inspiration…
