at the seaside, on the hills

Dear All,

Just a quick postcard or two from our break  at the seaside and  in the hills. A place of perfect peace and old in its human history-so old. In the distance you can see Eggardon Heath (remember Thomas Hardy’s Return of the Native-Egdon Heath?) There’s an Iron Age Hill Fort on the top there, which we walked to.  And the mill where we stayed was mentioned in Domesday. This is a wonderful landscape-gentle and quiet. Mostly the only sounds were birds and the breeze.

And  fish and chips? We had them here. Exciting windy day. The haze is salt spray in the air as the sun is beginning to go down.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and a couple of answers to questions. Susan-I didn’t get the silk cocoons and carrier rods from Sassa Lynne, although I see that there are some wonderful supplies by her here. Mine were from Stef Francis. And Mary Ann- you will have to be patient to see the whole thing-being a present it is still under wraps! I will show you in time.

I might pop in a couple more pictures from our break-but I know how boring it can be, being subjected to other people’s holiday pics. Perhaps it had better just be textiles tomorrow.

Fish and chips at three seaside? Few things are more delicious. Out of the paper I presume. I love the spray effect in that picture. It sounds as though you had a very restorative time x
